Last May 17, i conducted a bento workshop under Manila Workshops for Rustans entitled “Creative and Healthy Lunches for your kids”.
It was a fun filled learning afternoon for kids and their moms and dads. I gave a them a brief talk about nutrition, tips and guidelines on how to pack bento boxes, food handling and safety and of course the basic tools that they need to make their bento boxes.
Most of the tools that i used in the bento workshop are the tools that are available and commonly found in our kitchen.
Basic Kitchen Tools
I made a fox bread bento with this sweet little girl Ikia. We had a great time!
We made the Open faced tuna Fox bento using 2 slices of wheat bread, cheese and tuna spread. 2 slices of cucumber for the eyes and blue berries, halved for the eye detail. The ears are made of slices of strawberries and the nose is made from black grapes, halved. Whiskers are made from nori. Ikia picked strawberries, apples and blueberries to complete the fox bread bento box.
The lady bug bento was the second bento that i prepared with the little girls.
Onwards to a healthy lifestyle! Bento making is our friend to make creative and healthy lunches for our kids… This workshop is brought to you by Rustans in partnership with Manila workshops and nanaysluncheswithlove
